Cookie Policy
The cookies and similar technologies The Towpath Inn uses, what each is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your choice. Last updated 26 October 2026.
How choice works
Only the cookie that remembers your choice is set before you decide. Analytics and marketing cookies, and the Google and Meta tags that set them, load only after you accept them. If you reject them, they never load. You can change your choice at any time with the button below or the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of every page; withdrawing consent deletes the cookies we can reach.
Necessary (always on)
These don't track you.
- rg_consent: remembers your cookie choice. 6 months.
Analytics (only if you allow them)
Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages help people find us.
- _ga and _ga_<ID>: Google Analytics. Up to 14 months.
Marketing (only if you allow them)
Google Ads and the Meta pixel: we may use them to show our adverts on Google, Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited this site, and to count which adverts led to visits and enquiries. Google and Meta may also set cookies on their own domains (for example doubleclick.net and facebook.com) under their own policies.
- _gcl_au, _gcl_aw: Google Ads, linking visits to adverts. 90 days.
- _fbp, _fbc: Meta pixel; _fbc holds the advert click ID. 90 days.
- rg_attr: remembers which advert or link first and last brought you here. 90 days.
- rg_vid: a random ID so our own records can link your visits together. 90 days.
Other sites
Booking a table takes you to our booking provider's website, and links to Instagram or Facebook take you to theirs. Those sites set their own cookies under their own policies.
